I stare at the heirloom in my hand. It’s also a fake.

I’ve made sure to make as much duplicates as possible.

The tracer they put in it is too small to be accurate, so it just gives a general blip of the heirloom’s location. That’s how I was able to get away with the first scam exchange.

I’m sure when he got it, they turned off their tracking devices and decided they really had it this time.

This was supposed to be a one-time thing, but Marcus is greedy.

It’s a simple transaction. Give me Billie, I give you your stupid necklace. Nothing really that hard.

But Marcus, he’s egotistical and psychopathic. He loves playing mind games and it kills me.

I guess, though, that’s why I’m so good at outsmarting him. I was with his company for more than two years and I was very observant.

His strategies were solid, and that scared me, because I knew he wasn’t going to spare any of his mind tricks on me should I break away.
