Elena’s POV

Finding out she was Eric’s ex-wife felt like being hit by cold water.

She was standing right there—calm, flawless, confident—and suddenly every thought in my head scattered. If this woman had once been his wife, then what did that make me? A phase? A distraction? My mind stalled so badly that I forgot how to speak for a moment.

When I finally did, my voice came out shaky. “Sorry… but how do you even know who I am?”

She laughed lightly, like the answer was obvious. “After yesterday? Who doesn’t?” Her eyes sparkled with amusement. “The interview was everywhere. You and Eric practically broke the internet.”

Before I could respond, she glanced around the room. “May I?” she asked, already stepping inside. She closed the door behind her and walked over to the bedside table, placing the flowers down neatly. “I thought these might brighten the place.”
