And my mother smiles at me with love, before taking my hand in a gesture of support and care, "I know we have had our hard times sweetie, but I do love you. I am so happy for you and keep tearing up just imagining you being married and settled down.." She whispers to me with a smile on her face.
"Oh mum!" I hug her hard.
I know she shot me.
I don't condone her for what she did.
But she is still my mother.
I don't have a father; I thought I lost my mother as well.
Now that she is on the right side, and isn't being beaten black and blue, we are able to work on healing our relationship.
Nobody can judge me for making a relationship with my mum until they thought they lost their parents!
"Time for traditions." My mother calls in a happy sing song voice.
"Something old!" Mum says, showing me a gorgeous rose flower hair grip that she had worn on her wedding, as did my grandmother, "and something borrowed."
