“A request?” Her eyes were wide, curious, suspicious, and far too tempting for my self-control.
“My request,” I repeated, brushing my thumb across her cheek because I genuinely could not help myself. “Simple. You’re going to rest.”
She blinked. “Rest? That’s the request?”
“Yes.” I leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead, partly romantic, mostly to shut her up. “Because you look like you need it.”
Her mouth fell open. “Sebastian, you can’t just… I’m not tired.”
The lie dropped out of her mouth like a drunk toddler on roller skates, wobbly and unbelievable.
I raised a brow. “Dahlia. Have you made use of your mirror lately?”
She frowned. “I already took my bath. Plus, you said I looked beautiful.”
“Of course, you look absolutely beautiful. Just that you could look even more beautiful with just a few moments of sleep,” I said, ready to put her to sleep.
“But I’m not sleepy.”
“Are you sure about that?”
