Chapter 73
Saturday afternoon came, and Jillian arrived at her hometown.
"Hi, Aunt Josie," she greeted her when the door opened.
"Jillian! It's good to see you," she said, embracing her. "How are you? How's the ride?"
"It's alright. I took the bus. How are you? I bought fruits and a few materials."
Josephine took one of Jillian's luggage and led her inside. "You don't have to buy me anything. I'm fine here. I've been the same old woman living alone here. Everything's been the same. But there are a few changes around."
"Have you talked to the ones in charge? I mean, the mayor can't just agree to this, can he?"
"We can't be sure of that yet. Most of the neighborhood's been bought already."
"They can't just buy our homes."
"People were desperate for money. They do everything for money."
