Book 2: Chapter 37

“You look beautiful.”

The words slammed into Sasha’s heart and she looked at him sharply. What did she just hear? Did Michael just compliment her? No, it’s not possible. She must have heard wrong, she thought as her gaze lingered on him, waiting to know if he would look at her, but he didn’t.

“Ah, that’s what I thought,” she laughed mockingly at herself for letting her heart go astray.

Michael couldn’t stop the words from escaping his lips. He couldn’t believe he had thought out loud. Out of the corner of his eyes, he looked at Sasha. He could feel her gaze on him, but he couldn’t get himself to look at her—not only because he was afraid of her reaction, but because he was blushing.

In all the years of giving his heart to her, this is the first time he had let her hear a little of his thoughts about her. This was the first time he had complimented her—the first time he had said such words to another woman apart from his mother and his late grandmother.
