Chapter 14
Avery’s POV
“Don’t be stubborn and eat. You need to replace the blood you lost.”
“Did I tell you I want it replaced?”
I give him a deadpan and push the tray closer to him. Gaius’ steely eyes narrow as he regards the bowl of chicken salad with utmost disdain. I get it; he’s not used to such a basic meal, but it’s what I can afford. I’m not a billionaire or even close, so he’s going to have to endure the agony of having to eat a solid, nutritious middle-class meal.
I frown at his reply and tell him, “You’re not even making sense at this point. Look…” I grab the fork and take a bite of the food, chewing dramatically and swallowing loudly before widening my eyes and gesturing to the food.
“See? It’s not poisoned if that’s what you are afraid of.”
His nostrils flare when he huffs, and he just turns around to the other side, his unbound hair falling across his face.
