Chapter 13
Avery’s POV
My hands shake as I wring out the water from the red-stained towel under the sink. I try as much as possible to get much of the blood out from the wet cloth before wringing it again and taking it out of the spray.
I do the same thing for the pile of bloody towels on the counter beside me, cleaning them up as much as I can before throwing them inside the washing machine. After that, I open my medicine cabinet and pat around for more analgesics but come up short; he’s used it all.
I sigh at the implication of that—I have to go dr*g shopping, and I’m not particularly excited about it. Especially given what I did.
I had been in the bathroom for God knows how long, waiting for Gaius to return. I just about wore out the ground by how much I paced. It didn’t help matters that for a long time, all I heard was sporadic gunfire and my mind went wild with possibilities.
