Chapter 19
Avery’s POV
My eyes are scratchy and tired from having been awake for nearly two days. The rest of the field journalists around me are having the time of their lives, vibing to Drake from the van’s speakers and chattering among themselves while I’m busy trying so hard not to fall asleep. The gentle purr of the vehicle isn’t exactly helping my situation as it practically lulls me to sleep and I want nothing more than to relax my head back and sleep.
Alice catches me yawning from her perch on the seat directly opposite me and she leans forward on her elbows to ask, “Busy night?”
I bring my palms up to my sore eyes and rub hard at them as I reply, “You have no idea.” If she did, I would’ve been in handcuffs by now.
The van negotiates a bend, causing everyone inside to tilt to one side, and Alice almost falls over. I shoot out a hand to stabilize her, and she settles properly into her seat, but since that puts more distance between us, she has to increase
