Avery’s POV

My chest heaves up and down with each inhale and exhale, and I try to get myself to calm down.

Tough luck.

My heart speeds up even more with the thought of the repercussions of my rash behavior, and it’s just been two days on the job. Firstly, there’s no way the casino is going to retain me after this stunt I just pulled on one of their most important customers, and if I get fired, I’m going nowhere near that office.

Fuck!

Why did I feel like unleashing my venomous side was going to be such a good idea? And on someone that I sucked faces with nonetheless…

“Oh my God, this is bad,” I moan to myself with a hand on my forehead, “This is bad, bad… bad!”

Shut up, Avery. You know it was good.

And my mind now chooses to focus on the rush of hormonal reactions I got from Gaius’ shove. I have been a mess since the kiss, and now my body is using it against me, interpreting even a look from him as mind-boggling.
