Chapter 12. Waiting

The next day had come, and Belle went to work, this time making sure that she had her phone with her. She didn’t want to miss Ben’s call for any reason, so she also charged her phone to a hundred percent.

As usual, she ran errands for Laura Johnson, but was still grateful because it wasn’t as hectic as working under those junior editors; she had the chance to see how stressful it could be to work under a junior editor.

Once, Belle sat in her corner of her boss’s office, staring at her phone. Mrs Johnson found it weird but didn’t say a word; she was probably watching a video on silent, she thought.

Time passed, and it was six in the evening. Again, like yesterday, it was time to leave the office and return home to her cousin and her roommate. He still hadn’t called. Belle wasn’t happy about that; she was hoping he would call her while she was at the office, at lea
