Chapter 32. Late

“Goodnight, mum.” He replied before she cut the call.

Getting up from his office chair, he remembered he had told Belle he would call. Taking a look at his wristwatch, he saw that it was almost twelve, five minutes left till twelve.

He dialed her number and waited while leaning in front of his office desk for her to pick up the call with his phone to his left ear.

“Ben.” He heard her low voice, and a smile reappeared on his face.

“Why are you still awake?” He asked because he knew how late into the night it was. He wasn’t even expecting her to pick up the phone, and so planned to call her only once so as not to disturb her sleep.

“I was waiting for your call?” She bit her lips, still speaking in a low voice not to wake Brie or Cherry, who were both beside her on their shared bed.
