Chapter 40. You’re Not Going Home Tonight

Belle was still sleeping when her phone rang. With a jerk, she sat up on the bed and looked around. Ben wasn’t in bed like she expected.

Naked as she was, she dragged herself to the other side on the left to get her phone, which had stopped ringing, from her handbag. As soon as she got it out of her bag, it started to ring again. It was Brie. She answered the call.

“Belle, I just got back from work, and you are not home. Where are you, with Ben?” Brie’s voice came through.

“Yeah.”

“Oh. Okay, will you be coming home tonight?”

“I don’t know yet.” Belle bit her lips as she answered.

“You don’t know yet?”

“I will be back before seven, probably.”

“Seven? Do you know what the time is?”
