Chapter 17

(Ava’s POV)

There’s no usual wake pattern between Lily and I. Normally, she’s the one doing th waking and this prevails majorly. The only times she doesn’t wake me are when I’m on my periods and the cramps wake me first and when I just can’t sleep, I don’t need to be woken up.

Today is neither.

I was practically impossible to wake and before I get fully conscious, another eon passes by and Lily has to threaten to leave me behind. Knowing I’d probably end up in trouble because of my apathy if that should happen, I adhere to her threats and indeed, begin getting ready.

Deep down though, I can tell that something is wrong with me.

“I think I feel sick.” I mutter as I wobble into the bathroom.

“Sure.” Lily scoffs humorlessly. “Make sure to tell that to your boyfriend when we get out. I’m not the one in charge of prescribing rest as all that.”
