Chapter 25
(Ava’s POV)
I open my eyes to some awkward form of peace around me. It takes me a little while for me to recollect my surroundings, but I'm sure when I do that I haven't been out for long, because I still hear the treacherous men talking in the background.
“You should know, by now when not to ever interrupt, boy. Next time, I won’t be so gentle.” He brags.
“Go to hell.” Dylan spits stubbornly. From the sound of his voice, I can discern that he's been beaten up pretty badly. I drag myself to a sitting position and try to make my way toward him.
“No, no boy. You’ll go first. We’ll see you there much later.” The man raises his hands to strike once more with the weapon in his hands, probably a steel baton.
“Please.” I croak, making them pause. “Don’t do this. Take me instead.”
