He had plenty of his own, like why the hell had she docilely followed him down there? He’d expected her to fight, wanted her to, to further prove her duplicity. Maybe she still thought she could talk her way out, or maybe she thought whatever magic allowed her to fool the truth spell could withstand anything else he chose to throw at her.
Either way, she was wrong.
Looking at her made him feel physically ill, knowing what he was about to do. No matter what she’d done, no matter who she worked for, or the pain her betrayal would cause his brother and friend, he loathed the mere thought of causing her harm.
He’d done horrible, terrible things in his life, awful things for which there could be no forgiveness, but this… this would be the worst.
