Amber’s POV

I had hoped I could do this in two rounds, but I knew somewhere deep inside I had to beat her in rounds one and three to make a total win. Although I also know the loser will have one more ace up their sleeve—duel to the death. I think Josephine hopes to tire me to the point where if I win round three she will be able to kill me in a duel. She knows me very little if that’s the case of her thoughts.

I take another trip to the bathroom, coming back to a server placing food and drinks on my table again. It looks really good, and she even got my favorite cheese and ham sandwich.

“My Queen, the King said to make sure you eat some real food in this break. And I have called for the doctor to look you over.” I furrow my eyebrows.

“I didn’t call for a doctor?!” She smiles.

“I know, my Queen, but it is custom before the third challenge to have the doctor make sure both contestants are fit to fight, and besides; the King and Prince demanded it
