Chapter 68. Something’s Coming

Maze’s POV

“I can walk by myself, thank you very much.” Kiara’s voice states from the hallway, putting a shit eating grin on my face! She is up and as feisty as ever. Not even a minute later she staggers in with my mom and Frida trailing after her. They are both trying very hard not to laugh, and the reason for that comes on as the last one; a very sour looking nurse. Kiara makes a choking sound when she sees me sitting upright in my bed. Dad and Alastair are by my bedside as they have been filling me in. The others are out preparing for the upcoming war. We know they are coming, and we need to get ready to give them a very warm welcome when they do.

“Oh Maze!” Kiara says, grabbing my hand, sitting down in the chair the nurse pushes behind her. She gives her a grateful smile. “Sorry, but I am not going to be a liability now, so I need to walk by myself. But thank you for the chair.” The nurse nods, her expression softening just a smidge before she bows to the both
