Adriana couldn’t believe it. The life she had run away from, many, many years ago, had caught up with her. She knew it would only be a matter of time, but as time went on, she had hoped it never would.

Now she was sitting here, in this fine office belonging to the sister of Jax’s charge. She tried to take some deep breaths, but her anxiety of Jeremy rejecting after she told them everything was blocking her from it. She kept going over everything in her mind. How much should she tell them? Was she going to die? Was she going to be all alone yet again? The question swirled in her mind, making her dizzy.

Her parents, cast out from her mother’s old coven for a crime against both her and his kind, had done what they had to do to survive. They had loved each other, and her, very much. Their crime? She was a witch, and he was a vampire. It was very much forbidden, and they had sought the protection of the demon king. Her mother had been pregnant wi
