Chapter 23

Suddenly there was the sound of a cane on the flagstones. He turned halfway around and saw his Aunt and Alexi taking their places in the nave. 

Then the first notes of the organ sounded, and Eden entered the center aisle.

She was veiled, as tradition demanded. Her emotions could not be seen through the lace, but her hands trembled slightly on the bouquet of roses. 

Guided by Lucas, Eden came to stand beside him. Ian felt her look around nervously, as if she were panicking.  

 He stiffened, fearing that Eden would faint, when Alexi, who was more used to the wedding process than he was, conveniently came to take the flowers off her hands and whispered to Eden that everything would be fine with a reassuring smile.

Reverend Kingston paused for a moment, to give everyone time to concentrate on what was to come, and then began: My dear brothers and sisters...
