Chapter 11
As Ryder struggled with the stack of papers on his desk, I couldn't help but notice the wedding photo beside them. In it, I wore a beautiful white dress, and despite everything, I felt a pang of sympathy for myself. Our wedding night had been passionate, but since then, Ryder had been consumed by his duties. He'd neglected his role as my husband, but I understood - he had so much to contend with.
I recalled how Freya Silverthorn had mentioned Astrid during their meeting. Astrid's bold flirtation had caught Ryder off guard, and it troubled me deeply. Last night, I had confessed my feelings to him, or rather, I had demanded his attention in a way he didn't expect. But who wouldn't be surprised by such a sudden outburst?
