"You've always been bad at lying, Kyley. He's not coming back is he?" Paige said, chuckling and shaking her head at Kyley, spreading her arms demonstratively.

'Not at least until breakfast is done...' Since Kyley was all alone in the house, she was definitely making the meal. And that paper seemed to contain recipes to make the meal. 

Paige knew Kyley couldn't cook. 

After all, Paige knew everything about Kyley as she'd watched her ever since she got mated to Jason. 

Hence, she was able to discern that Darren had left Kyley to make breakfast, and at least wouldn't be coming back until she was done doing so. After all, he wouldn't leave recipes for her if he would be returning soon right?

Hearing this, Kyley's eyes widened in shock. She realized that her bluff had only served to confirm that Darren would t be coming back. Not anytime soon. There was no way to back it up anymore now.
