Chapter 15

It had been exactly three weeks that Linda had come to Florida. For the most of what was supposed to be an enjoyable time with Booker and Toby, she realized that she was gradually tilting into becoming a part of their daily routine. It wasn’t like she was beginning to get tired of them, but the hospital that she had been working with back at Florida had begun to call. She was three days past her periodic leave.

She strayed over from her bed at exactly 4:30 am on that morning. Still deep in her thoughts. She slipped to the bare ground like a child who expected that her mum would pick her before she could fall. “How do I explain to Booker that we might need to be apart for a while because I need to return to work?” She stated in a monologue. It was quite dark in her room, and somehow in her subconscious she assumed speaking with Booker about leaving on that morning. She didn’t break herself to make a sense out of her array of excuses.
