Chapter 136. Sadness
Zahra ran to her room as soon as she was done eating. Although she didn't have any appetite, she had to sit there and remain composed. When Irtaza had announced their marriage, she couldn't react immediately. Rather, no instant reaction came to her. She felt numb after hearing his decision. She was close to crying, but she had to cease her tears. If she had begun to cry, her mother might have sensed that something was wrong.
Irtaza had passed her a look. A look meant only for her understanding. Telling her—rather, challenging her—to say otherwise. That look was enough to keep her shut and remain composed. She didn’t want to lose her calm at the table and cry, though she was close to doing that.
Her crying barrier broke at odd times, but the look in his eyes and the way he had uttered those words kept even her impulsive crying barrier at bay. She was waiting for the right time and place to shed her tears. No matter how much she tried to suppress them, she knew the tears
