Chapter 263. The Escape Story
"He is dead," said Amman.
"What? No? How? How do you know?!" uttered Zahra, partly speaking, partly howling. Her world was ending in front of her eyes, her heart sinking along the icebergs of faith. Tears were quick to form in her eyes. Her ears couldn't believe what she was being told. She prayed all of it was a lie. Her heart was getting restless.
"I just got the news. We must hurry," Amman said, blatantly feeding her lies.
Zahra began to sob and shake her head in denial while narrating the words, "No! It can't be!" like a mantra. She placed her hands on her forehead and sobbed. Her mind recalled the memories she had made with Irtaza—what he looked like, his voice, his eyes, his hands. She began to recall everything about him.
She couldn't digest the news. She knew her mind was in a denial state, thinking all of it was a lie, but why would Amman lie to her? That denial was bringing forth every possibility in her mind to not accept the news she had just be
