Leila’s POV

“Leila, we have a problem.” Chloe’s trembling voice brought her standing pale, with fear written all over her wide eyes.

I frowned, stepping back to let her in. “What is it? You are starting to scare me.”

She kicked the door shut behind her and leaned against it as if to shut out something—or somebody. “It’s him. The school king. He—he wants to see you. He told me to take you to his dorm.”

I blinked in confusion. “The school king? Who the hell is that?”

Chloe swallowed then, and in the next second, her eyes welled up in tears. “His name is Jason. Jason Pierce. H-He’s like the most powerful guy here. He practically runs this school. And he’s not. He’s not someone you say no to.”

I felt my heart sink, knowing the rumors about him—an arrogant bully who thought the world should fall at his feet. But I’d never crossed his path. I’d never been on his radar till now.
