“You wanted to see me?”

I was standing in the doorway of Jason’s dorm room, my voice low, dripping defiance. The hall was silent, the door clicking shut behind me with that ringing finality that sounded just like a trap springing shut. Jason was leaning against his desk, arms folded, a smug smile spreading across his face as he eyed me up and down.

“You came,” he said, amusement dancing in his voice like he hadn’t expected me to. “How surprising.”
