Lata's laugh distracts Alpha North Star from the words of Elder Evatri. Craning his head towards the Captain's backyard, he sees Lata, Rana and Kamil on their hunkers in a circle, a large book on Lata's laps, Community Princess napping by Kamil's feet.

He wonders what they are talking about, and when Rana laughs, he wonders what prompts their laughter.
