“What the hell just happened?”

“Emilia, calm down. There’s a perfectly sensible explanation for why Kane did that.”

Lillian sighed. “Look, it’s deeper than you think, but let’s just say Kane did what he had to do to save everybody’s asses.”

“Kendra’s family was blackmailing us.”

“Yes. The entire Beaumont family. She knows things about us that will ruin our reputation if the public ever got wind of them.”
