The doctor came in again to give a status report of my condition.

“You ready?” he asked

She nodded my head, unsure she wanted to speak.

“Well, you cracked three ribs, dislocated your shoulder on the crash impact, and you have a few cuts and bruises, which means you will likely be sore for a while, but you were lucky to come out very well considering the damage done to your car. And your baby is fine. You broke your shoulder because you were protecting your stomach against the impact,” the doctor said
