Chapter 66
I was so giddy with excitement for the news I had to share with my sister that I couldn’t sleep. I was feeling happy and sad at the same time, happy that she was the only family I had left and she got to share in another happy moment of my life, and sad because she might not get to see much of my baby.
My sister has always been my rock and the only person who has ever believed in me. I was a small kid when my mom said I ruined her career because she gave birth to me and missed the big promotion; my sister stepped up and treated me like she gave birth to me. She was always there in every milestone of my life, and when she told me she was sick, I was devastated. She discovered it late, and there was no saving her again, but I refused to give up on my sister because she didn’t give up on me.
Katherine was diagnosed with glomerulonephritis three years ago. It is a kind of kidney disease, and it was deadly; I was scared for her, but she was also in good hands at the hospital.
