Chapter 70. Almost Arrested
Brent arrived home a short while later. His brow immediately creased deeply when he realized Beverley’s car was not in the yard. He immediately entered the house and called out loudly to Edward.
“Edward!”
The older man hurriedly approached. “Yes, sir?”
“Is Beverley not home?” asked Brent.
“Madame said she was staying at her friend’s house tonight. Didn’t she tell you?”
Brent exhaled harshly. “If she told me, I wouldn’t have asked you,” he said irritably.
Edward just sighed. He was used to Brent’s attitude. It wasn’t a problem for him. He just didn’t understand what made the man look so grim.
“Do you need my help, then?”
“No, I don’t.” Brent shook his head and ran upstairs to his room. He tried calling Beverley, but she didn’t answer. Finally, he sent a text message, but she didn’t reply either.
