“He’s going to be okay.” My words didn’t uplift Lake. His father just got into the operating room twenty minutes ago.

There could be a possible complication during surgery, and that worried him. Considering this was just the beginning of Wallace’s treatment, I understood his concern, and then another crucial long-term treatment was chemotherapy with a lot of possible side effects.
