The witches employed sorcery to sever the connection between all werewolves and their wolves.

Arsenio groaned beside me. I heard the pain in his voice. My eyes darted to him, and I spun around immediately. I held his arm and made him look at me, but he could barely look at me. His teeth sank into his lower lip; he was holding back the pain he felt.

“Lillian…” He grunted in agony, and his grip on my arm tightened. His eyes were squinted, and his voice came out in a heavy breath.

“What’s wrong?” I held him closer, staring at the lines that folded on his forehead.
