My heart felt like a stone in my chest.

Dr.Wilson seemed to see the inner turmoil and wavering in me.

“Here,” she said, passing me water and some pills. “Take these for the discomfort. Rest up and no heavy lifting or strenuous activities.”

She handed me a prescription, her eyes kind but serious. “This should help with the morning sickness. And Silvia? Call me anytime - day or night - if you need anything.”

I clutched the chair edge as I stood up slowly.

My body protested in unexpected places, but the pain felt distant somehow.

I swallowed, my voice barely audible. “Do you... have anything that can mask scent? Like a spray or... something stronger?”
