Why do I not find Gerald's cordial greeting surprising?

Rosalie had already informed me that seeing me with Sebastian infuriated him. He was attempting to win me back because he was jealous. I have been hurt three times previously, but it is now behind me. I was faithful to the mate bond. I sacrificed too much of myself to fit Gerald's ideal mate. In exchange, all I received was betrayal.

My curiosity gets the better of me as Kristine and I get in the car. Gerald backs off, and I'm back on the right track.

"Kristine, how do you feel about the entire circumstance? Rosa is your biological sister; she too deserves your allegiance, even if I am aware that Keira is your sister-in-law." She stops the car and gives me a harsh look, which surprises me.
