Mona watched from the window of the packhouse hallway facing the secret training ground of the Lycan and Crimson Pack’s warriors with sadness in her eyes. They didn’t do the training in the Crimson Pack’s regular spot. To avoid letting their plans out into the hands of possible spies among them.

Her eyes lingered, especially on Dylan. For weeks since he started training with his men, they haven’t set their eyes on each other, even though she comes around every day and leaves very late at night. She could sense him avoiding her, and it made her heart hurt and yearn terribly for him.

The night no longer took her burden away. Instead, she is saddled with the thoughts of him and doesn’t fall asleep until it evades her, ridding her of the heavy thoughts. Mona jolted from where she stood at the touch on her shoulder.
