Chapter 42
Sansan screamed as she watched Mona roll down the path due to hitting her feet. Pulling up her dress, she ran to her. Mona stopped right in front of Mark’s baking shop. In her attempt to get up, she wobbled again. This time she got held down by a strong arm.
Mark, who had been packing in his wares, had caught sight of the lady rolling through the rocky road. He had dropped everything in hand to help her up.
“Are you okay, ma’am?” he inquired.
“Mona,” Sansan called out, wiping her forehead. “How did that happen?”
Mona swallowed dryly; she didn’t hold herself down enough, which was why she fell that hard. Her conversation with Sansan had gotten her too distracted to notice where she was headed. Embarrassment colored her face after realizing someone was holding her from behind, and it wasn’t Sansan.
Moving further from him, Mona lowered her gaze to the ground. “I am really sorry for bumping into you.”
