Chapter 44. Heading Home
Olive was elated as she saw Wayne, her mate, running after her. She darted onto the road and ran in a zigzag pattern, and he followed her movements perfectly. He was an incredibly fast wolf and was already catching up to her. To throw him off, she took a sharp turn and ran in the opposite direction from which they had just come. He spun after her, increasing his pace.
It was as if he were gliding through the wind rather than running on legs. In less than a minute, he had caught up to Olive. She wheezed playfully and fell to the ground. He towered over her, tickling her abdomen and sniffing her fur as he did so.
