Chapter 49. In the Car

The silence in the car was slowly killing Olive. It wasn't because she wanted to have a conversation with Wayne, but because she was incredibly curious about where he was taking her. He had his back resting against the seat, his face tilted toward the ceiling of the car, and his eyes closed.

He seemed deep in thought, but on closer inspection, he just looked exhausted. Olive immediately felt bad. He had been away on a hectic mission for an entire week and had only returned this afternoon. He hadn't even rested at all. He had taken a long bath with her, taken her on her evening stroll where they raced each other's wolves for an hour, and then right after they returned, he had rushed off with his men for an emergency. Now, he was taking her out on a date. Was he some sort of Superman or what? He really needed to rest.
