Wayne’s face contorted into such a deep frown that he suddenly looked terrifying. Olive was still choking, so he turned away from Gia and handed her a napkin.

“Take small sips of water,” he said in a very dark, angry voice.

“Thanks,” she croaked, sipping a little water from his glass. He stood up and positioned himself behind her, patting her back gently until she calmed down. Her eyes were red, and her face was flushed.
