Chapter 58. Silent Treatment
Olive wanted to ask Wayne if something was wrong, but he looked completely relaxed and calm. If something were truly bothering him, it would have been written all over his face; he was not the type of person to hide his displeasure. Therefore, she exhaled slowly and decided to let it pass. Maybe she was just overthinking things.
They began eating their lunch in silence, though each of them was secretly waiting for the other to speak first. When the quiet between them became too heavy to bear, Wayne cleared his throat.
“Ahem… humph.”
Olive looked up at him with furrowed brows, her gaze meeting his. “Do you need some water?” she asked, assuming he had choked on his food.
“No. I’m good,” he replied.
She kept staring at him skeptically. He huffed and gulped down a glass of water just to appease her.
