Chapter 83. The Sudden Attack

Wayne was going completely crazy over Olive, but he was putting on a very thin layer of forced sanity. He was acting normal, hiding the raging monster thrashing inside of him. He was terrified that he would hurt her—hurt his own mate. He harbored these deep fears, which was exactly why he had been holding back from truly touching her ever since. But Mufasa had assured him it was fine, promising that he could master the darkness no matter what because he loved his mate.

’Love,’ the word echoed in his head. He loved Olive.

All of a sudden, he lunged away from her and stood several feet back.

“Wayne?” Olive called out, completely startled by what he had just done. “What happened?” she asked.

He staggered back as his eyes began to flash violently between red and gold. The blue light from his wolf was completely pushed back.
