Hycinth's startled lake-blue eyes quickly cut from person to person.

Her audience sat in rapt attention, smiles and excitement radiating on their faces, waiting for her to say something.

But Hycinth's countenance reflected a far different reaction from theirs. Brows furrowing closer with each sweep of her confused gaze, Hycinth abruptly clutched her rounded abdomen protectively and sank as far away into the bed as she could.
