Chapter 28. Test of Diplomacy

Anastasia's POV

While the hall is spacious, well-lit, and very roomy, this room is half the size, with fewer decorations and darker wall colors. The window is not as wide as the one in the hall, but it still lets in light from the shining sun outside, bringing a breeze into the room.

In the room, five elders are seated, three women and two men. They vary in age, from their forties to their sixties. Their faces are serious, almost like marble. The voice that called me belonged to the elder named Henrik, I read his name on a golden plaque in front of him on the long table.

"Miss Anastasia, please have a seat," the elder named Chloe orders, indicating the chair in front of me.

I obey and settle into the wooden chair. I rest my hands in my lap, my heart almost ready to leap out of my mouth. I take a deep breath and try to remain calm for this new test.
