Chapter 36. Venomous Words

Anastasia's POV

"What do you think the next trial could be, girls?" Bea suddenly asks, causing all the girls to gather around her. I do the same as I try to find any clue of what Zahir said that could belong to me in this winter garden.

"Maybe a trial about the other realm, Aconitum," one participant suggests, and a murmur of agreement arises.

The realm of Marcus. The memory of my former destined mate comes to mind, and my heart feels the pain of rejection. Not only did I have to endure all the suffering after my mother's death, but my destined mate being the same as my twin sister's happened so quickly that I didn't even have time to assimilate and try to talk to him. Raven quickly turned the situation for her gain, lying about who I really was.

Marcus was selfish and spoiled, the cruel words he said to me hurt like sharp, poisonous daggers.
