Chapter 65. Choices
Damon’s paws thundered against the forest floor, pushing harder and faster at every turn. His lungs were burning, his muscles felt as if they’d spasmed but he didn’t stop to catch his breath. While his wolves fell behind, adrenaline pumped through his body, pushing him beyond his limits. He had to find her. He couldn’t waste even a second.
Scents hit his nose as he sped past trees, but one stood out, a familiar sweetness tickling his insides. The scent spray was finally starting to wear off, and for the first time in hours, he felt as if he could finally breathe. Liam growled in his mind, pushing for control that Damon immediately denied.
At the edge of the forest, a building came into view, the walls charred and crumbling from the fire he himself had ignited and watched as it burned. They had everything so well planned out, knowing he would’ve never thought to search through this ruin.
