Chapter 64. Big News
Sarah’s eyes fluttered open and all that she could see was darkness, save for the moonlight escaping through a small crack. She had lost consciousness along the way and had no idea where they had taken her.
Ignoring the pain that erupted from the wound on her hand, she twisted around onto her stomach and searched for the wall with her hands, using it to help her up. Her legs trembled, eyes rotating around the room. The place was cramped and smelled foul, reminding her of somewhere she didn’t want to remember.
Suddenly, footsteps caught her attention. Then came the jingling of keys. Sarah saw another flash of her past before her eyes and wrapped her arms around herself, making sure her wounded hand was out of view. She stared through the metal bars, and as she waited for whoever it was, her heart worked twice as hard, thumping against her ribs.
