Chapter 284. Heart Transplant

~3RD PERSON'S POV~

Mary could feel a sense of warmth on her skin. The sounds of people screaming filled her ears, and the smell of flesh and blood filled her nostrils. She lay unconscious on a rough surface—she wasn't fully unconscious, though; she could somehow sense everything that was happening around her.

A warm gust of wind blew over her face, and her eyes swung open. She drew in a heavy breath, then sat up quickly, panting heavily. She looked around, her face slowly contouring with confusion.

“Huh?” Mary quickly got up from where she sat, the expression on her face going from confusion to shock as she saw the large flames rising from all the buildings around her. She could hear screams from people in agony but could not see anyone around. The streets were empty, and nothing but ash floated around in the wind.
