It’s been very long since a woman could…” He nervously chuckled, stopping himself from sharing too much. “But I swear to you that the choice was completely hers.”

“And that has nothing to do with patching the strife between your packs?” Vance knew about the feud that they had ongoing. Often times, an Alpha might negotiate a peaceful condition if he deeply desired the woman from his enemy’s pack.

The two Alphas gave themselves away when they exchanged uneasy eye contact. The outrage! Both men brought the glasses to their mouths to avoid lying to me.

I placed my empty wine glass on the table to my left and eyed Gavin suspiciously. Then I scanned through the crowd for his brown-haired claimed mate and she appeared overwhelmingly nervous. I thought
